Man, 33, Arraigned For Killing Fiancée

A 33-year-old man identified as Ericson L. Tozay has been charged with Murder for allegedly stabbing his fiancée Margret Zome to death.

According to records at the Monrovia Magisterial Court, defendant Tozay is a resident of the LBS Community in Paynesville.

The records revealed that defendant Tozay caused the death of his 37-year-old fiancée on Monday, August 11, 2008 with a kitchen knife at about 5:00 in the morning.

“While defendant Ericson Tozay and his fiancée were in their bedroom, an argument ensued between them which resulted into a scuffle; subsequently  Tozay who has been suspecting his fiancée of having extra love affairs took a kitchen knife and inflicted multiple wounds on her body,” the records stated.

It was also indicated that the victim was taken to the John F. Kennedy Medical Center where she was pronounced dead before arrival by Dr. Joe Dandy.

The court records disclosed that the defendant voluntarily admitted inflicting the wounds on the victim, but stated the he did the act out of frustration.

The accused also revealed during Police investigation that he and the victim have been lovers for the past seven years, but since she (victim) was recruited into the Liberia National Police, she has been disrespecting him.

“At times she sleeps out of the house and I even caught her with a boyfriend before,” the murderer told the investigation, adding that it is through frustration that he perpetrated the act.

The police retrieved a blood-stained silver kitchen knife from the scene of the incident.
