Ministry of Agriculture and Food and Agriculture Organization Holds 5 Day Workshop on Food Security

A week-long workshop, Operation Eliminate Hunger, otherwise known as PULUKPEH in a Liberian vernacular for Food Security Monitoring System began today, September 29, 2008 on the University of Liberia Campus in Fendall.

 

Organized and Sponsored by the Ministry of Agriculture and the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) the workshop is being attended by nearly 50 agricultural extension agents from the Ministry of Agriculture and some NGOs in the agricultural sector.

 

Topic for discussion during the workshop include: Food Security Situation in Liberia, Nutrition and Assessment Analysis, Agricultural Marketing Information System and the Way Forward in Mitigating Food Security.

 

Facilitators are drawn from the public sector and the UN System including FAO and the World Food Program.
